Freedom Aquatics Coaches Reach Swimmers Through Online Meetings

The coaching staff at Freedom Aquatics have turned to “out of the box” methods to keep close tabs on their swimmers during the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. With all locations closed while complying with governmental guidelines, Coach Nikolay and members of his coaching staff conducted virtual meetings on Monday to check in with their swimmers.

The meetings were conducted with swim groups joining an online app at designated times according to their training level. During the video conferences, swimmers were encouraged to share their feelings and concerns while also receiving reassurance and support from the Freedom coaching staff. Swimmers were also provided with innovative workouts that can be done at home to keep them fit and ready for when practices resume. One of the innovations unveiled during the meeting was the “Freedom Movement Challenge” an initiative developed by the coaching staff to encourage swimmers and their families to keep moving even when outdoor activities are somewhat restricted.

Coach Nikolay described the online meeting as an overwhelming success with swimmers interacting with the coaching staff, and each other. Attendance was over 97% for this collaboration which will now be conducted on a weekly basis.
